The Geordie duo returned on Saturday night (February 25) for the 14th series of the top telly show.
And the series opener proved to be a smash hit, bringing in an average of 7.4 million viewers – peaking at 8.7 million, a 600,000 rise from last year.
The ITV programme also proved to be one of the most popular TV shows that night, with more viewers than both The Voice and Let It Shine on BBC One at the same time.
The final of the Beeb show only managed to pull in an average of 4.1 million viewers, peaking at 4.5 million, despite starting 15 minutes earlier than Ant and Dec.
That’s little over half of the number of viewers that tuned into Saturday Night Takeaway.
And after the return of Saturday Night Takeaway, ITV only managed to get an average of 5.2 million viewers with The Voice, with 6.2 million people at its peak, as people switched over after Saturday Night Takeaway finished.
Ant and Dec proved to be a smash hit when their series returned for another fun-filled showdown.

Scarlett Moffatt made her presenting debut and Michelle Keegan was the first guest announcer of the series.
And the series looks set to be the biggest yet – after the Geordie duo announced the series finale would be coming straight from Walt Disney World in Florida.
