Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keeping tabs on Cesc Fabregas’ situation and is prepared to make a move for the midfielder if Chelsea accept bids this summer, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Mourinho remains a huge admirer of the Spaniard but United will face strong competition from AC Milan.
The Serie A club are ready to submit a £27 million offer for Fabregas – the same amount Chelsea paid to sign him from Barcelona nearly three years ago.
Last summer, Mourinho failed in his attempts to sign Nemanja Matic and Willian from Chelsea, and the report claims that the Premier League leaders would be willing to sell Fabregas to a direct rival.
Fabregas has started only six Premier League games this season under Antonio Conte, but has an impressive return of three goals and seven assists in just 639 minutes of league football.
Asked if he sees himself stay at Chelsea after the victory over Swansea City on Saturday, the 29-year-old said: ‘100 per cent.
‘I am not thinking about anything else than challenging myself here. The situation from six months ago to now has changed massively.
‘From the beginning it has been a big challenge and there are always rumours, you cannot stop that, but I don’t even care what people say. Not for one second did I want to leave.’
