Florida shooting: Donald Trump says 'we need to make a difference', but makes no mention of gun control

President Donald Trump has pledged action in response to the school shooting in Florida, saying that it “not enough to feel like we are making a difference, we actually have to make a difference” – but did not mention the issue of gun control.

Instead, he vowed to prioritise school safety and “tackle the difficult issue of mental health”. He did not even say the word “gun.”

The President also said in his Oval Office address that his administration was working with local authorities to investigate the attack that left 17 dead.
