Police stopped a car on the M20 after they spotted a parrot on a steering wheel.
Thankfully the bird wasn’t the one driving but the officers were still not amused.
‘Today we issued a driver in his 20s with a traffic offence report for driving on the M20 J6-5 with a parrot perched on his steering wheel,’ the Kent police roads unit tweeted.
After receiving some questionable tweets they added: ‘We never thought we would have to say this. However, based on our earlier tweet, or should that be squawk, parrots are for perches and not for steering wheels.’
They also confirmed the parrot was not dead and the driver had been returning the bird to its owner.
The shocked officers pulled the car over at around 8.30am in Kent, between junctions 6 for Maidstone and 5 for Aylesford.
The driver was issued with a traffic offence report for ‘not being in proper control of a vehicle’.
