United beat Southampton 3-2 thanks to Ibrahimovic’s late winner to secure their second trophy of the season following the Community Shield success in August.
‘We are winning. After seven months I have two trophies with this club,’ the 35-year-old said after the game.
‘There are other clubs that didn’t win for 10 years. I’ve won what they won in 10 years, so I’m happy with that.’
It’s unclear if Ibrahimovic was targeting Arsenal in particular. It could also have been Liverpool.
Arsene Wenger’s side have won four trophies in the past decade.
Nevertheless, they have failed to lift the Premier League since 2004 and the success the Swede has enjoyed in the meantime provides a startling contrast to the north Londoners.
Arsene Wenger in numbers
Premier League trophies: 3
FA Cup wins: 6
League Cup and European trophies combined: 0
Number of times failed to qualify for Champions League (in full season in charge): 0
Year he arrived at Arsenal: 1996
BBC Sports Personality of the Year best coach award wins: 2
Years since last league trophy: 13
The EFL Cup was Ibrahimovic’s 32nd career trophy since signing for Ajax in 2001/02.
His haul includes 13 league titles, nine national cup competitions and a Club World Cup.
In the same time period Arsenal have only won the FA Cup twice and Community Shield three times.
In fact, since Arsenal last lifted the Premier League trophy, Ibrahimovic has won 28 trophies.
Arsenal are still just ahead overall, however, having won 42 trophies in their entire history. So at least there’s that.
