We Are All About Ikea's Latest Sustainability News

Everyone’s favourite flatpack furniture giant has just revealed that it officially owns more wind turbines than stores, according to edie.net.

IKEA now owns 415 wind turbines (and 355 stores), and is gaining fast on its target to become totally “energy independent” by 2020.

The plan is to match the amount of energy used by the business with its own production of renewable energy.

This super sustainable aim was bolstered earlier this year when a range of IKEA solar panels and home battery packs were released.

Since 2009, the Swedish retail brand have invested €1.5bn in wind and solar projects, €600m of which was specifically invested in the future of renewable energy.

Here’s to an energy independent future, with IKEA at the helm.
