Uganda’s president has made a quite astounding claim – that he and our Queen are ‘friends with mutual benefits’.

What Prince Philip will say to this startling allegation remains unclear.

The country’s president Yoweri Museveni appears to have made the claim without realising quite what ‘friends with mutual benefits’ implied – and the Tweet has now been deleted.

Museveni, 72, said that the monarch was a ‘friend with mutual benefits’ in a series of admiring Tweets to commemorate her birthday.

Museveni seems to be unaware of the modern meaning of the phrase – which would imply that he and our Queen were, you know, getting it on.

There is no suggestion that this is the case (just in case you were wondering)
