The X Factor has drawn its biggest Saturday night audience of the series so far after being pipped to the post by Strictly Come Dancing’s launch weekend.
After previously being beaten to the finish line by Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday night’s X Factor episode was watched by an average of 6.3 million viewers.
The figures are a leap from the previous Saturday’s show which had an average of 5.5 million people tuning in.
The viewing figures have been sporadic, with The X Factor’s opening show achieving six million viewers compared to Strictly’s figure of 8.8 million – a whopping three million more viewers.
It was the lowest figure recorded for The X Factor since 2004 when the show began.
Strictly takes a break for two weeks after the launch episode and will return September 23.
Sunday nights for The X Factor however have been a hit, with the first Sunday night instalment a ratings hit, as it attracted 6.5 million viewers, more than the Saturday.
The war between the two titanic shows continues.
