Karen Clifton has subtly admitted that she doesn’t want a Strictly Come Dancing partner like Will Young this year.
Okay she may not have used those exact words, but she definitely knows what she wants in a celebrity partner and it can’t be someone that doesn’t really want to be there.
Last year saw Karen coupled up with Leave Right Now singer Will, who quit the show three weeks into the last series despite the pair getting off to a strong start, leaving his partner and fellow contestants shocked.
Now a year later, the Strictly professional dancer is ready to take on the dancefloor with a partner that’s actually going to ‘enjoy the journey.’
Speaking to Daily Star on Sunday, she said: ‘Whenever you’re on the show you’re hoping you’ll get someone who wants to be there.
‘Strictly is so loved and you want someone who is keen to learn and is ready for a new adventure.’
Describing Will’s shock exit off the show as a ‘difficult time,’ she added: ‘This series I’m just hoping for a partner that’s fun and wants a good time and who will enjoy the journey – and be there.
‘I’m looking forward to this year. I’d love to do as well as my partner wants to do. You always want to make sure your partner goes as far as they can. That’s what is important.’
So far seven names have been confirmed for the 15th series of the dancing show including Simon Rimmer, Joe McFadden, Rev Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford, The Saturdays star Mollie King and Davood Ghadami.
It’s been widely reported that JLS star Aston Merrygold will be joining the line-up too, but this has yet to be confirmed.
