Ryan Gosling surprised everyone tonight by taking his older sister Mandi to the Oscars rather than his partner Eva Mendes.
The Hollywood couple are very private and rarely make public appearances anyway, and Ryan never mentions Eva, the mother of his two kids, in acceptance speeches.
But you’d think Eva, 42, would want to attend with Ryan, 36, considering he was up for Best Actor, and a lot of their Hollywood pals would be there.
Instead, non-famous Mandi Gosling — the woman who Ryan credits with making him ‘think like a girl’ — joined her brother and drew a her fair share of attention with her low-cut gown.
The pair returned to their childhood together by snacking on the free sweets that fell from the ceiling at various intervals during the ceremony.
There was a major embarrassment this evening when Ryan’s movie La La Land was accidentally awarded Best Picture because the wrong film name was read out by Warren Beatty.
Moonlight was subsequently given the award as originally intended, to the delight of the fans of the perceived underdog movie.
We bet Mandi was pleased she got to see that happening.
