A ‘chemical incident’ caused vomiting residents to be rushed to hospital from a London street this morning.
All three emergency services were on the scene at Alwold Crescent in Lee within minutes and the road was closed off.
Residents were told by police they were investigating whether the incident was terror-related.
The London Ambulance Service hazardous environment team tweeted from the SE12 road.
They said: ‘We are on scene at a chemical incident in SE12 with @LondonFire and @metpolice.’
A witness told The Sun: ‘I could see the emergency services outside my house.
‘When I spoke to a policeman he said there were people complaining of irritation, who had been throwing up all morning. They’ve been rushed into hospital.’
The police told residents they were investigating whether the incident was terror related and they believed the problem was coming from the sewage system.
There have been five fire engines, paramedics and several police officers dealing with the incident.
