A former children’s home deputy principal who retired to live in Malta has appeared in a Welsh court accused of the sexual abuse of 11 children.
Bryan Davies, 70, was extradited from the Mediterranean island last week and was remanded in custody by a district judge in Llandudno.
Davies’ arrest was part of National Crime Agency’s Operation Pallial investigation into allegations of historic abuse in North Wales children’s homes.
The former deputy principal at Ystrad Hall, Llangollen had 38 offences listed against him including serious sexual assault of boys in the 1970s.
And he is also accused of making indecent images of children in Sussex between 2007 and 2013.
No pleas were entered in court and Davies will will appear at Mold Crown Court on September 8.
Davies could offer no address in Britain as he has been living on the Maltese island of Gozo.
Defence barrister Hannah Horton made no application for bail and Davies was remanded in custody.
