Singer R Kelly has said he is ‘alarmed and disturbed’ by allegations that he lures young women and keeps them against their will in a sex-obsessed cult.
Several parents of teenage girls, who they claim they have not seen for months and are now missing, made sensational claims against musician R Kelly – full name Robert Sylvester Kelly – to BuzzFeed News.
The allegations accuse Kelly of keeping these young women at his homes in Chicago and Atlanta, making them call him ‘Daddy’, taking their mobile phones off them and giving them new ones with restricted use, filming them having sex with him, limiting how many times they are allowed to leave the house and being abusive to them if they break his ‘rules’.
The Ignition singer has now denied all allegations made against him in a statement published by TMZ.
A rep for the singer told the showbiz gossip site: ‘Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him.
‘Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.’
In the original Buzzfeed News report, one mother – who goes by the name of J to protect her and her daughter’s privacy – explained how her 19-year-old daughter once met R Kelly backstage at a gig of his and he offered to help her launch her career after listening to her CD.
J’s daughter was allegedly then invited to another of his concerts later that month and despite being aware of claims of sexual misconduct made against him previously, J said she felt safe as she was always present when they met.
However, J says it was soon a case of not knowing where their daughter was after she went on tour with R Kelly. She explained how, two years later, they now haven’t seen their daughter since December 1 2016.
