Police 'Investigating An Incident' On Parliamentary Estate

Police are currently “investigating an incident” on the Parliamentary Estate, a House of Commons spokesman said.

Initial reports suggest a “suspicious package” is the cause of the alarm and a heavy police presence has been seen on a Ministerial corridor in the House of Commons.

Parliament is currently in recess meaning many MPs will not be in Westminster.

An unnamed police officer in Speaker’s Court told the Press Association: “We haven’t been told much but a package has been left… It won’t be anything to worry about.”

An official police spokesperson said more details would be released shortly.
