Ibrahimovic, 35, stole the headlines with a superb display at Wembley, scoring a brace as Southampton fell at the final hurdle in the EFL Cup.
Mourinho admitted the Swedish striker’s display was ‘outstanding’, but the Old Trafford chief felt Pogba also deserved credit for his performance.
‘Honestly he won the game for us because he was outstanding,’ Mourinho said of Ibrahimovic.
‘I can see a couple of performances – Pogba was at a similar level but he [Ibrahimovic] was outstanding.
‘In a match where our opponent better than us for long periods they deserve to go out not over 90 minutes. But he made the difference and gave us the cup.’
Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho cut an emotional figure after watching his side lift the trophy and added: ‘I’m emotional yes – it’s not easy to win titles not easy to do it so many times.
‘Not easy to cope with pressure I put myself under in my career. I want to pay homage to Southampton.
‘The only thing I can say is we have the cup but we should be playing extra-time.’
