The agent of Liverpool transfer target Mohamed Salah has downplayed reports that a deal will be completed imminently.
The Egypt international has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield with reports from his homeland suggesting he would undergo a medical tomorrow.
KingFut have claimed Liverpool have had a £39.4m bid for the 25-year-old accepted by Roma. It comes after weeks of speculation that the two clubs have been in talks regarding the former Chelsea winger.
On Sunday a friend of Salah’s further fuelled the rumours by posting a picture of himself and the player on Facebook along with the caption: ‘Good luck bro in Liverpool, you are a legend and you deserve to be in Anfield.’
He added: ‘Congratulations, you Egyptians. Mohamed Salah officially joined Liverpool, booking tickets and travelling Tuesday [to] sign.’
Yet Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas appears to have branded the reports as ‘fake news’.
‘It’s amazing what one fan picture, along with a stab-in-the-dark caption, will lead many to believe… #fakenews,’ he wrote on Twitter.
Liverpool fans will hope that the deal for Salah does eventually manage to get over the line. Last season he scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in Serie A, a hugely impressive return for the right-sided attacker.
