Michael Bay would work with Tom Cruise but it seems like it will only be on one condition – and that’s if Tom Cruise gets down and dirty…with his stunts.
The Transformers director has had talks with Tom about why they haven’t worked together before and it’s not because of busy schedules or some ongoing feud between them but because of their different styles when it comes to stunts.
And we all know how much Tom Cruise loves his stunts.
Explaining the difference between their styles of stunting, the director said he prefers his to be rough around the ages in contrast to The Mummy actor who’s stunts are always more clean cut.
He told Fandango: ‘We’ve talked about [working together]. But I told Tom to his face, I said, “Tom, I know you rehearse your stunts over and over, but I like sloppy stunts.”
‘So that would be the rub working with us – I wouldn’t let him rehearse as much. I like my stunts to be dirty and messy, and not so… [he sings the Mission: Impossible theme]. Look, with Mission: Impossible I understand you need very choreographed stunts, but I like dirty, sloppy stunts.’
Michael also said that he’s done with the Transformers series as he wants to focus his attention on more ‘more serious and more adult’ content but if there’s anything we’ve learnt from the star of the movies, Mark Wahlberg, is that no one should ever believe Bay when he says a Transformer movie is his last one.
Considering that in April the 52-year-old director confirmed that the writing team behind the franchise has outlined 14 new stories, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
