It’s been a tough few months for Luke Shaw but he’s unlikely to find his way back into Manchester United’s starting line-up like this!
The England full-back was left out of Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad and was forced to watch his side’s dramatic 3-2 success over his old club Southampton from the sidelines.
Shaw has made just one appearance, in an FA Cup fourth round tie against Wigan, since late November and his manager Jose Mourinho might take a dim view of the 21-year-old gorging himself at the buffet laid on in the victorious dressing room.
Mourinho has been keen to play down suggestions that Shaw, who became the most expensive teenager in history when he joined the Old Trafford club for £27 million in 2014, could leave in the summer.
But the Special One has made no secret of the qualities Shaw must display if he is to be trusted with a regular first team spot.
Asked about Shaw’s recent omission, he said earlier this week: ‘Because I am playing with Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Darmian.
‘They are playing the way I like a full back to play and Luke has to wait for his chance knowing I give nothing for free.
‘When I give something to the players it is not cheap, it is expensive.’
