Ben Stokes insists he is excited to get his first taste of the Indian Premier League after being signed by the Rising Pune Supergiants.

England’s Test vice-captain was bought for 14.5 crore (£1.7million) in Monday morning’s auction to become the highest-paid foreign player in IPL history.

‘Really excited to be joining up with the Pune Supergiants in the IPL this year,’ Stokes said on social media.

‘Always looks an amazing competition and I can’t wait for the experience.’

Sussex star Tymal Mills, meanwhile, who has become a T20 specialist after suffering an ongoing injury, landed a £1.4m contract with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The express bowler admitted it had been a ‘crazy morning’ and said he was looking forward to joining his RCB team-mates, which include India skipper Virat Kohli.
