Somehow, Honey G is still getting red carpet invites.
Metro.co.uk bumped into the unlikely rapper at the Attitude Awards on Thursday night, where she told us she felt ‘overwhelmed’ by the affection she received after coming out.
‘The article broke the internet and I was trending on Twitter at number four at one point,’ Honey gushed to us in a pair of LED sunglasses with the flashing words ‘HONEY G’ on them which engulfed half of her face.
‘I kind of feel there’s a weight off my shoulders now. I’m very proud and I felt it was the right time and the right way to do it.’
With the heavy stuff out of the way, Honey got to talking about another of the ceremony’s attendees, Prince Harry, and how she reckons there’s half a chance the royal likes her music.
Suggesting Harry might tune in to her tracks like The Honey G Show, she said: ‘Everyone’s got their little secrets!’
While Honey spoke, Prince Harry was arriving at the awards ceremony via the back door, swerving the red carpet (and Honey’s affections).
‘You never know, maybe he is a Honey G fan,’ the reality star who came 5th on the 2016 edition of The X Factor ambitiously said.
Never one to dismiss the limelight, Honey went on: ‘Wow, you know, I never even thought I’d have a conversation with a royal.’
The Prince attended to collect an award in the memory of his mother, Princess Diana.
Elsewhere, Honey said she’d ‘certainly entertain the idea’ of a collaboration with Stormzy, but certainly wouldn’t entertain the idea of a relationship.
Coyly, she said: ‘You know, I’m just enjoying life at the moment, having fun – that’s what I’m doing at the moment, enjoying my life’.
Seems it, Honey G.
