Only recently Gaz Beadle and his girlfriend Emma McVey became parents to son Chester, but they’ve revealed the traumatic way their baby was brought into the world.
In an interview with OK!, the pair spoke about their hopes for a natural birth, but that it was quickly turned on its head when Emma was told she had to have a caesarean.
While Emma kept the reasons behind the last-minute decision to ditch a natural birth under wraps, she spoke about the labour-room drama.
‘We’re not going too much into it, as it wasn’t what we wanted,’ she said. ‘I ended up having to have a C-section and I had Chester on the Monday lunchtime.’
The model and sometimes-reality star gave birth to the couple’s baby on January 15, and Gaz – a former bachelor known on MTV’s Geordie Shore for his partying and way with the ladies – revealed he became quite emotional during the birth.
He said: ‘I was fighting back tears as it was happening and I was thinking to myself, don’t cry! I was turning away as it was happening. It’s the weirdest thing. It’s mad.’
Following the birth, the 25-year-old was slammed for daring to return to her pre-baby figure.
‘The gall of her!’ The masses chanted.
And Emma spoke about the backlash she received for the natural return, saying perhaps if people knew the real story behind her birth they’d lay off trolling.
She said: ‘People were tweeting me saying: “We’d all love an easy pregnancy and easy birth,” when they had no idea what happened or what my birth was like.’
