The longtime feud between Matt Damon and Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t take long to kick off during the ceremony.
Chat show host Jimmy stuck the boot in early and called Matt fat during his opening speech, in which he falsely claimed he wanted to ‘bury the hatchet’.
‘I’ve known Matt so long that when I first met Matt, I was the fat one,’ he joked.
He also ribbed Matt over the fact he didn’t take a role in Oscar-nominated Manchester By The Sea, as he instead chose to perform in ‘Chinese ponytail movie’ (The Great Wall).
But the first word went to Matt, who said on the red carpet of Jimmy: ‘He’s talentless himself. Unfortunately, he’s got an incredible group of writers who work for him. So I’m afraid.
‘I think I’m in for it tonight.’
He was right, of course, and the night is still young.
Apparently Jimmy, 49, has even banned ‘dead man walking’ Matt, 46, from getting up on stage.
Anyone who remembers this explicit song by Sarah Silverman will know exactly where this beef originates.
Let’s hope there’s more Matt-bashing to come.
Meanwhile that movie everyone laughed at last year, Suicide Squad, has won an Oscar because somehow that makes sense.
