Emmerdale fans have finally been given some good news in relation to Aaron Dingle as news arrived to confirm that his appeal against his sentence had been upheld and, with the time he has already served, he is due for release in just weeks.
But with Robert Sugden having slept with Rebecca White, what state will he find his marriage in when he does get home? After admitting his infidelity to Chas, guilty Robert pledged to be the one to tell Aaron what he did.
But when it came to the visit and Chas realised that coming home to Robert was the only thing holding Aaron together, Chas interjected Robert’s big confession and said that the worst he had done is trashed the Mill.
With Aaron relieved that nothing worse was coming his way, Chas was guilty over lying to her son but knew that he had to keep his head above the water while he carried out the remainder of his sentence.
While Liv was thrilled with Aaron’s news, an atmosphere remained between Chas and Robert and, while she made her feelings for Robert clear, she insisted that Aaron can’t know about his betrayal.
This is soap, of course, so the likelihood of Aaron never finding out is a pretty slim one – and one that many Robron fans likely wouldn’t be behind. But will it be Robert or Chas who eventually break the news to Aaron?
Or might it be Rebecca that everyone needs to be watching closely?
For now, Aaron is just concentrating on his release but will his joy be short lived once he gets back home? It would be just Aaron’s luck to have his happiness snatched away but it remains to be seen how long Robert’s mistake will be kept under wraps.
Let’s just focus on one thing though – Aaron’s prison nightmare will soon be at an end. However, after what he went through, the scars will be lifelong and he will need all of the support of his loved ones as he adjusts to coming home and recovers from his latest ordeal.
Emmerdale continues on Tuesday 21st March at 7pm on ITV.
