We always suspected that Steven Beale would go to extreme lengths to hold onto Lauren Branning in EastEnders but he has already gone way too far by pretending to be dying from a brain tumour in order to stop her from leaving him. But it turns out that this shocking claim is just the beginning – and conniving Abi is involved and just as lacking in morals as he is!
With Lauren left overwhelmed by the news, it has naturally changed everything and Steven ominously watched from his secret spy cam as Lauren told her boss Josh Hemmings that she couldn’t be with him, she needed to give her relationship with Steven another chance.
This convinced him not to be open about the truth and to keep up the pretence and before long, Abi, who was easily swayed by the promise of revenge on Lauren and the prospect of being with Steven, was plotting with him.
As they discussed how Abi could distract Lauren while Steven pretended to attend scans, she pulled out another whopper – and showed how sick things were about to get. Having swiped the scan of a dog’s brain tumour from her workplace, Abi, grinning and kissing Steven afterwards, persuaded him to pass this off as his own.
And that’s exactly what he did – he told Lauren that it was too dangerous to operate but at least had the decency to look guilty as she embraced him.
But while Steven and Abi’s shocking plan seems to be going their way, Max may be the one to figure out the truth as he has some big questions for Steven.
Well, it takes a liar to suss another.
