A first-date couple who crashed a wedding have been thanked by the newlyweds for giving them the ‘best present ever’.

New Jersey duo Carly Wolfson and Ritchie Barry wanted to make their first date ‘the most memorable ever’ and even ended up sitting on the best man’s table after telling staff their placecards had gone missing.

They were discovered the following day when the bride opened up the card left by the sneaky couple that had a photo of the pair, a $1 note as a wedding present, and a note that read: ‘Dear Fox’s, 1) Congratulations! 2) Sorry for crashing your wedding 3) Best of luck!’

Rather than be furious her special day could have been ruined, bride Karen found the duo on Facebook and promised to buy them a drink to say thank you for making it such an occasion.

The new Mrs Tufo posted: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who shared our special day with us… especially these 2!

‘You gave us the best wedding present anybody could ever ask for.’

Wolfson, 19, told CBS New York: ‘I messaged her on Facebook apologising. I was like I’m so sorry. She was like, ‘don’t be sorry. Best gift ever’.’

At first Wolfson thought her date for the night would back out of the plan.
