Chelsea manager Antonio Conte praised the contribution of Alvaro Morata after he came off the bench to grab a goal and an assist in the club’s shock defeat to Burnley.
The Blues were beaten 3-2 at home by the Clarets this afternoon, but threatened a comeback late on after Morata helped change the game when he came on in the 59th minute.
The Spain international, a club-record signing from Real Madrid in the summer, took just ten minutes to get off the mark in the Premier League, reducing the deficit to 3-1.
Morata then set up David Luiz to make it 3-2 and give Chelsea hope, and though they couldn’t find an equaliser, Conte was pleased with what he saw from his new signing.
‘I think Alvaro has good space to improve,’ the Italian said after the game.
‘He’s working very well and working very hard to quickly find good fitness and adapt himself to our style of football.
‘For sure he played very well, he scored a goal and played a good game.’

Morata had a fine record off the bench for Real Madrid last season, but will be hoping for more playing time after moving to west London this summer.
Michy Batshuayi was preferred up front from the beginning this afternoon, but Conte has suggested Morata will get more game time once he’s fully match fit.
