A driver was seriously injured when her car plunged seven storeys from a car park after she mistook the accelerator for a brake and smashed through its parking barriers.
Dramatic footage shows the moment the BMW smashed into the ground leaving the female driver trapped inside and narrowly missing a Chevrolet Tahoe.
William Burch, who was driving the 4×4 had just completed a three point turn at the car park entrance in Austin, Texas, when the sedan’s front wheels landed just yards away.
He told KVUF: ‘I was turning around in that little service delivery area. As I was backing out towards the dumpster, I heard something, because I had my window down.
‘I was talking to my mom on speaker on my phone, and I heard all these loud noises and bangs, and I remembered what had happened about 8 months ago.
‘So I just immediately just put it in drive and started driving forward and as I started driving forward, the car landed on me.’
The terrifying incident took place at Littlefield parking garage on July 13 at around 8:30 a.m.
Unbelievably, it occurred just after a year after a similar incident in which no one was injured.
