A boy was beaten ‘at least 62 times’ with a belt by his mum’s boyfriend, who started attacking him over a stolen phone charger.
Kordarell Williams, 27, has been charged with child abuse over the incident, which was caught on CCTV on Thursday.
It was reported by a witness who saw what happened at an illegal flytipping ground.
‘He saw a vehicle pull up at one of our illegal dumping sites and saw a man get out of a car and take a young child out of the car and proceed to just beat him senselessly,’ Constable Alan Rosen told Click2Houston.
‘He struck this child 62 times, put him in a headlock and knocked him over on numerous occasions with the blows.’
He was tracked down within three hours using his vehicle’s licence plate.
Williams admitted beating the child, but said it was only 16 times.
He said it was because of a stolen phone charger.
The child was taken into emergency care over the weekend and Williams was held in custody with $30,000 bail.
