A four-year-old boy hanged himself inside a changing room in a freak accident.
Ryu Pena, four, was wearing a hooded sweatshirt which ended up getting caught on a hanger on the wall.
The boy was rushed from the Again Thrift & More in Mankato, Minnesota, to a nearby hospital.
Despite efforts from emergency responders, Ryu was pronounced dead.
Police say he was alone in the changing room, though family members, from St James, were in the store at the time.
Commander Daniel Schisel called the death a tragic accident and said no charges are being pursued.
The fundraiser was set up by Ryu’s aunt Jessica Cuevas.
She said: ‘no mother or father should have to go through something like this and lose their child.’
Adding: ‘Ryu was such a sweet boy, with a gorgeous smile, an a unique little personality. ‘His best friend was his older sister Glory, he followed her around everywhere.
‘He was so happy and full of life and he just became a big brother 4 months ago, to Rolando jr, whom he loved so much.
Ryu’s funeral service will be held in Minnesota, confirmed Cuevas.
