Ben Davies has been dropped for Tottenham’s clash with Swansea City as Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep his squad fresh for their busy fixture schedule.
Pochettino has made two changes to the side which started in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday as Kieran Trippier replaces Serge Aurier at right-back, while Moussa Sissoko is preferred to Mousa Dembele in central midfield.
Jan Vertonghen is shifted out to left instead of Davies, while Dele Alli, who was suspended for the win over Dortmund, returns in midfield.
‘I think the team is playing well in different shapes and situations on the pitch,’ Pochettino told BT Sport.
‘We are so flexible, I tried to give same freshness to the team, against Everton we played a different shape and different players, again at Dortmund
‘I think the possibility to try to give more minutes to the whole squad during is so important because the physical condition is so important in the Premier League.
‘To have a chance of winning every game we assess the player then we decide.
‘But we are so happy we have a very strong squad and everyone can play.’
