Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has his heart set on moving to Real Madrid next summer and is ready to push for a move after slamming his current club for their lack of ambition.

The Polish striker’s relationship with Bayern has become rather rocky recently, reportedly angry that his teammates did not help him win last season’s Bundesliga Golden Boot and then hitting out at the club’s transfer business.

And now Spanish newspaper AS report it is the beginnings of Lewandowski’s move to secure a switch to Real Madrid, with the 29-year-old ‘obsessed’ with moving to the Bernabeu.

Lewandowski was briefly linked with a transfer over the summer, though it was Chelsea and Manchester United who seemed the biggest interested parties before signing Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku respectively.

Real had devoted last summer to trying to sign Kylian Mbappe, but the teenager instead decided to join Paris Saint-Germain leaving the Champions League holders short up front.

That has seen them reignite their interest in Lewandowski, though they are unlikely to pay big money to land a player who is coming towards the twilight of his career.

Instead, they have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who is eight years younger than Lewandowski and scored 21 goals in the Bundesliga last season, making him the fourth highest scorer in the division.

Lewandowski was two places higher with 30 goals and remains the priority, with Real expecting to be in regular contact with Bayern throughout the season as they try to agree a fee amicably.

The Poland international is likely to need to implore Bayern’s hierarchy to let him seal a dream move to a club he has admired since he was a child, while Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo have told him previously he would be welcome at the club.

Lewandowski believes Bayern no longer have the right mentality to challenge Europe’s elite and has been critical of Carlo Ancelotti’s reign.

Speaking to Der Spiegel, he said: ‘Bayern has to come up with something new and creative, if the club wants to keep luring world class players to Munich. And if you want to keep up at the very highest level, you need these players’ quality.’
