The Senegalese attacker made a superb start to the new season, scoring in his first three Premier League matches before receiving an unlucky red card against Manchester City that resulted in a three-match ban.
And, according to The Mirror, his performances have attracted attention from a host of European giants, notably, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus.
Barca appear to be the most interested party, so much so that the club are prepared to ditch their pursuit of Coutinho and switch their focus to Mane instead.
The Catalan club are still keen to bolster their attacking options after losing Neymar to PSG over the summer, though were unable to conclude a deal for Coutinho despite trying up until deadline day.
That proved to be a very stressful summer for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, with Coutinho only making his first league appearance for the club in Saturday’s draw with Burnley as a result.
The last thing Liverpool will want is to go through the same saga all over again next summer, while the news will be a huge blow to Coutinho who had still hoped to secure a move to Camp Nou despite failing to do so in the transfer window just gone.
Speaking about the failed move, he told ESPN Brasil: ‘I was interested by the offer but now my focus is on having a good season with Liverpool and with the national team.
‘It’s an honour to receive an offer from this club [Barcelona] but it is also an honour playing for Liverpool, I’ve always respected the club and the supporters.’
