Barcelona are reportedly looking into sealing the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain star and former Manchester United flop Angel Di Maria as part of their bid to replace Neymar.
The Catalan giants are looking for reinforcements in attack after losing one of their star players in a £199million move to PSG, and now hope to negotiate a deal to sign a player from the French giants.
It may be that the clubs’ relationship is too badly strained after the Neymar saga, but Marca claim Lionel Messi has pushed for Barcelona to target his international team-mate Di Maria.
The Argentine winger has shone in Ligue 1 after a disastrous spell at Old Trafford in 2014/15, and previously established himself as one of the best players in La Liga during his time at Real Madrid.
Di Maria’s place at PSG could now be under threat after the arrival of Neymar, but his experience and proven quality in Spanish football and the Champions League could make him a useful buy for Barca.
Liverpool’s Philppe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele have also emerged as top targets for Ernesto Valverde’s side, but look like slightly more ambitious options due to their importance to their current clubs.

Reports suggest PSG are willing to listen to offers for Di Maria, with the Ligue 1 big-spenders also eyeing further signings to follow up the Neymar deal.
Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has been strongly linked with a move to the Parc des Princes, while Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez also continues to be linked as one of their main targets in attack.
