Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil appears to have confirmed that he will not take part in the side’s FA Cup clash with Sutton on Monday night.
The German playmaker faced widespread criticism after his underwhelming display for the Gunners in their 5-1 thumping at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
On Sunday, Ozil’s team-mates were pictured in training ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Gander Green Lane but the 28-year-old was nowhere to be seen.
And, in the lead-up to the cup match, Ozil uploaded a photograph to his Snapchat page of himself on a plane amid reports he’s set to be rested.
The World Cup winner is yet to make an appearance for the north London club in any of the previous rounds of the tournament and it’s expected Arsene Wenger will leave him out of the squad once again.
After Ozil was panned for his performance at the Allianz Arena, his agent responded: ‘Mesut feels people are not focusing on his performance; they are using him as a scapegoat for the team after bad results.
‘Bayern had 74% possession. How can someone in the No.10 position create chances if you don’t have the ball?’
