Jennifer Hudson kicked off the impromptu performances on this series of The Voice UK, with an off-the-cuff performance of her track Spotlight on the launch night show.

But Tom Jones appears to be following in her footsteps as the 77-year-old coach sings rock and rock track Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On in the next episode.

As the blind auditions continue, Sir Tom serenades the audience and the coaches for an impromptu performance of Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On – having performed a duet with the singer Jerry Lee Lewis after its 1957 rockabilly release.

Aside from the studio audience who were clearly thinking that they’d come into filming on just the right day, Tom’s fellow judges appeared to be loving it too.

Will.i.am gets up and dances in his seat while Olly Murs makes some moves in his chair, while Jennifer Hudson films the whole thing on her phone.

Do we wish we were there? Yeah, pretty much.

Also in Saturday night’s episode, the coaches are visibly moved as 20-year-old singer Lucy Milburn from Sheffield takes to the stage for an emotive performance.

It’s not one to be missed.

The Voice UK continues 8pm Saturday night on ITV.
