Manchester United fans were sent into a frenzy during the EFL Cup final – not by their side’s 3-2 win over Southampton but because of the tweets of Antoine Griezmann’s brother.
Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann has been in superb form again this season and reports linking him with a switch to Old Trafford in the summer have been persistent. The Red Devils are apparently ready to meet his release clause of £85million in full to bring the 25-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams.
The likelihood of the proposed move happening seems to be given additional support by the fact Griezmann’s brother Theo, who acts as Antoine’s agent, is a huge Manchester United fan. And during yesterday’s final he wasn’t afraid to show it.
He tweeted throughout the dramatic showpiece. Here’s a taste…
Amid suggestions from fellow users on Twitter that he was seeking publicity, he confirmed his genuine status as a Manchester United fan with a picture of himself as a kid wearing a shirt.
The stream of tweets came a couple of days after he excited Manchester United supporters with a cryptic Instagram post.
If the move comes off it’ll almost match the huge transfer fee paid for Paul Pogba last summer.
